AKM Maidul Islam, a Jatiya Party MP from Kurigram -3 constituency and also a former minister, died at a hospital in Dhaka due to lung complications on Thursday night. He was 76.
The Kurigram MP breathed his last around 11:30 pm at the United Hospital in the capital, said Shafiqul Islam Dara,
general secretary of Ulipur upazila unit Jatiya Party.
He left behind two daughters, one son and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
The former minister was admitted to the hospital on April 17 with complications in lung. Later, he was put on life support following deterioration of his physical condition.
On Thursday night, doctors removed the life support.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held on Saturday at Ulipur in Kurigram and he will be buried at Banani Graveyard in Dhaka on that day. Maidul Islam was elected MP from Jatiya Party in 2008 and 2014 and made minister twice.
