UNB, Manikganj :
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said he thinks Jatiya Party ministers will not resign from the cabinet on the words of their party chief HM Ershad.
“The rift that has surfaced in Jatiya Party is their internal matter, which they’ll have to face themselves… after talking to Jatiya Party ministers, it seemed they won’t leave ministerships on the words of Ershad,” he told
reporters referring to media reports claiming that Jatiya Party ministers might quit the cabinet.
The remarks came while the Road Transport and Bridges Minister was inspecting an under-construction bridge in Singair upazila of Manikganj. Obaidul Quader said the Jatiya Party is now faced with a dilemma. “An octogenarian leader, Ershad will have to undergo an acid test.”
Asked whether any split in Jatiya Party will affect Awami League, he said even without other parties in parliament, the Awami League enjoys two-thirds majority needed to pass any law.
“So, why should Awami League take part in the ‘game of split’ in Jatiya Party?” questioned Obaidul Quader.
