Brig Gen (retd) Kazi Mahmud Hassan, a presidium member of Jatiya Party (Ershad), died of a heart attack in Gazipuron Tuesday night. He was 68. He is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters and a large number of well -wishers and political friends to mourn his death.
Hassan, also president of Gazipur District Jatiya Party, suddenly fell on the ground at his residence and rushed him to Gazipur Sadar Hospital then to United Hospital in Dhaka where on duty doctor declared him dead, the sources said. Kazi Mahmud Hassan worked as staff officer during the tenure of former President Hossein Mohammad Ershad. In a condolance message, Ershad, JP chief and special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has expressed his profound shock at the death of Kazi Mahmud Hassan.
He also convoyed his sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.
Liberation War Affairs Minister Alhaj Advocate AKM Mozammel Haque also condoled the death of Kazi Mahmud Hassan.
