Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque claimed that former Jatiya Party (JP) lawmaker Abdul Kader Khan was the mastermind behind the killing of Gaibandha MP Manzurul Islam Liton.
“The former JP lawmaker colluded the incident with an intention to become MP of the constituency through killing Liton,” the IGP said this while talking to journalists at an annual police rally and sports competition of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) at Dampara Police Line in city on Wednesday evening.
The IGP said, police arrested Abdul Kader Khan from Bogra on Tuesday for his suspected involvement in the murder. “We have no doubt about the clue of murder in preliminary investigation and the whole mystery of the killing has been unearthed,” the IGP said adding that everything will be clear during the police remand to the ex JP lawmaker.
