Staff Reporter: The returning officer canceled nomination paper of Jatia Party’s Mayor candidate but accepted all others for of the Dhaka North City Corporation polls.
JP candidate Kamrul Islam has been cancelled from the race as his name was not in the DNCC voter list.
Polls of the Dhaka North and Dhaka South city corporations will be held on January 30.
The returning office cancelled his nomination after a scrutiny of the seven candidates for the upcoming DNCC election, Returning Officer Abul Kashem confirmed it to the journalists on Thursday.
However, candidacies of six other contenders of DNCC mayoral elections were found to be valid. They are: Atiqul Islam of Awami League, Tabit Awal of BNP, Sajedul Huq Rubel of Communist Party of Bangladesh, Shahin Khan of Progressive Democratic Party, Sheikh Md Fazle Bari Masud of Islami Andolan Bangladesh and Anisur Rahman Dewan of National People’s Party.
