Joyful learning reducing exam pressure recommended

East West University (EWU) organized its 20th convocation on Monday using the virtual platform zoom. As the representative of the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni MP conferred degrees among graduates. In this convocation, a total number of 1551 graduates from both undergraduate and graduate programs received certificates.
Besides,twograduates were awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for their excellent academic performance.
Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Education, was present at the convocation as the Special Guest. Prof. Dr. Biswajit Chanda, Member, Bangladesh University Grants Commission was the convocation speaker. Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor of EWU, and Prof. Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor, EWU also delivered their speech on the occasion.
Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni stated that education system has to be upgraded according to the changing demands of the world. We need to make learning joyful by reducing pressures of conventional examinations. And bring in a system for learning to learn for lifelong.In the convocation, other distinguished speakers addressed the graduates reminding them of the devastating effects of Covid 19 across the globe. It has kept countless number of students away from their campuses.
But, educational institutions have continued their academic programs adopting innovative solutions through technology. The speakers urged the graduates to sustain their efforts and continue to progress in the face of such adversity in the future too.
Members of the Board of Trustees, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Deans, departmental chairpersons, faculty members, officers, staff, graduates and their guardians attended the convocation. The graduates were delighted to receive their certificates even during the Covid19 pandemic.
