Prime Minister’s Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Tuesday inaugurated the national emergency service ‘999’ aimed at providing emergency assistance to people across the country.
“The Awami League government always thinks about the future of the country where people will not face any type of hurdle,” he said while inaugurating the national emergency service-999 at a function held in Dhaka’s National Control and Command Centre commonly known as police control room at Abdul
Gani Road here.
Awami League is pledge-bound to ensure sustainable development of the country, Sajeeb Wazed Joy said, adding the party does not only concentrate on the present but also the future welfare of country’s people.
With the inauguration of the service, people from every corner of the country will get 24/7 emergency services from police, ambulance and fire service by just dialing 999 over both mobile phone and telephone.
During the opening ceremony, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Inspector General of Police A K M Shahidul Hoque and Secretary of Public Security Division of the Home Ministry Mostafa Kamal Uddin were present, among others. The ICT advisor also inspected the call centre after opening the service.
