A newly built sculpture named ‘Joy Bangla’ established at Chittagong University (CU) has been opened on Thursday.
The Vice-Chancellor of CU Prof Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury formally inaugurated the sculpture in a program.
Sohrab Jahan, a student of 41st batch of Fine Arts faculty the university , constructed the sculpture withthe assistance of Mujahidur Rahman Musa and Jayshish Acharya.
The sculpture, first of such kind in the campus, has been named ‘Joy Bangla’. It is themed on the Bangladesh Libaration war1971 .it is built upon 2 layers and around 20 feet tall.
The acting register of CU AKM NurAhmmed , professor ABM Abu Noman, Dean of faculty of Law, Dr Sekander Chowdhury, Dean of faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof Dr Farid Uddin Ahammed, Dean of faculty Social Science Faculty and proctor Ali Asgar were also present among others.
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chando, Lawmaker of Khulna Sadar Constituency Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU) Fayek-Uzzaman, Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Muhammed Alamgir, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Md Mostafa Kamal, Superintendent of Police, Khulna MdHabibur Rahman were present as special guests. President of Khulna Press Club Mokbul Hossain Mintu presided over the function. General Secretary of KPC Subir Kumar Roy, convener of Sculpture Establishment Committee Mallick Sudhansu, Faruk Ahmed, M Shaheb Ali, Mahbub Alam Shohag, Adv Saiful Islam, spoke on the occasion, among others.
