UNB, Dhaka :
Journalists from different print and electronic media will hold a rally in the city on March 26 to realise their various demands like ending the ‘abuse’ of different laws.
Sangbadik Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad, a platform of journalists, will arrange the programme at the Jatiya Press Club at 11am on the day.
President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Molla Jalal on Sunday announced the programme at a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club, marking Bangabandhu’s 99th birth anniversary.
Talking to UNB about the rally, the BFUJ president said, “Now, media houses in the country are facing various problems due to digital security act and some other laws while the 9th Wage Board is yet to be announced. So, we’ll place our demands to the

government from the rally to solve the problems.”
He said they will also announce some action programmes from the rally to realise their demands.
Earlier speaking at the discussion, Molla Jalal said the existence of the media industry is now at stake as a group of journalists are working to make their personal gains instead of protecting the interests of the community.
Stressing the need for forging a unity among the journalists to realise their demands, he said, “No one can suppress us if we get united. We’ll wage a movement for protecting the interests of the media industry and the journalists. We won’t compromise to this end.”
He called upon the journalists to join the rally and discuss the media industry’s current problems and work out their suitable solutions. “As our industry has been facing a crisis, we must now get united to overcome it.”
BFUJ secretary general Shaban Mahmud said, “We’ve to realise our rights through demonstrations and movements. So, get ready for the rally on March 26,” he said.
President of Dhaka Union of Journalists Abu Jafar Surja and Joint Secretary General of BFUJ Abdul Majid, among others, spoke at the programme.
