Local journalists formed a human chain at Kalibari road in the town on Saturday noon demanding exemplary punishment to the killer of the Daily Samakal Correspondent Shamol in Shahajdpore upazila of Sirajganj during the ruling party Awami League clash.
It was addressed among others by District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Sanak President Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu, Saiful Maleque Chowdhury, Ashraful Islam, Saifuddin Ahmed Lenin and Anowar Hossain Bacchu.
Jessore Correspondent adds: Leaders of National Demacratic Front (NDF), Jessore district unit protersted killing of Daily Samakal journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul. They also demanded scraping of Rampal thermal power plant immediately.
The demands came from a rally of the left leaning party held in Jessore town marking its 29th founding anniversary on Sunday.
Ashutosh Biswas, vice- president, NDF, Jessore district unit and Hafizur Rahman, general secretary spoke the rally.
