Journalist Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, a grand-alliance candidate, was elected unofficially by a huge margin from Chandpur-4 constituency in the 11th parliamentary elections held on Sunday. Returning Officer announced the unofficial results of all the 118 polling centres of the constituency on Sunday night. Shafique, former President of the Jatiya Press Club, bagged 1,73,369 votes with Awami League’s poll symbol “Boat” while his rival Oikyafront candidate Md Harunur Rashid got 30,799 votes with “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol. Shafiqur Rahman thanked party leaders and activists and people of his constituency Faridganj for electing him MP.
