Staff Reporter :Eminent Journalist Sadeque Khan was buried at Banani graveyard on Tuesday afternoon after two Namaz-e-Janaza.His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held on the premises of the National Press Club at 10:30AM. A large number of people attended the Janaza.The second one was held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Zohr prayers. Hafiz Maulana Mufijul Islam Sarkar led the prayer. His family members, relatives, politicians, journalists and other prominent personalities were present.Former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Emaj Uddin Ahmed, Sadeque Khan’s younger brother and Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon, BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Shafiqur Rahman, President of National Press Club, Qumrul Islam Chowdhury, General Secretary, Mosaddek Ali Falu, Managing Director of NTV, Journalist Mahbub Ullah, Journalist leader Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Poet Abdul Hye Shikdar, Jahangir Alam Prodhan and Workers Party General Secretary Shakhawat Hossain Badsha, among others, were present at the first Janaza. Rashed Khan Menon said, “I am proud of my eldest brother Sadeque Khan’s honesty. Without his influence I might not have been a politician.” The dead body of Sadeque Khan was brought in the Press Club at 10:00 am. The veteran journalist and politician died on Monday at the age of 83 in his Baridhara residence.Sadeque Khan entered journalism in the 1950s. He wrote columns for different newspapers, both Bengali and English, including the Weekly Holiday till his death without break. He started his career as a film maker. ‘Nadi O Nari’ a film he starred in, was released in the early 1960s. He produced a film ‘Raja Elo Sohorey’, but his second production named ‘Dur Hai Sukh Ka Gaon (Off Human Happiness)’ could not be released for political reason in the sixties. An adherent of the political ideology of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, Sadeque Khan announced the establishment of a political party named Bangladesh Ganashakti Dal in 2012. Sadeque Khan was also a recipient of Ekushey Padak for his valiant role in Language Movement.
