Journo Manik Saha’s 16th death anniv observed in Khulna

Veteran journalist Manik Saha’s 16 th death anniversary was observed in Khulna on Wednesday with due respect. Journalist Manik Shaha, a reporter of Bangla daily Sangbad,died in a bomb attack near Khulna press club on January 15, 2004.
Different programs including discussion meeting was held marking the day by the journalists and other professional bodies in Khulna.
The speakers (journalists) also urged the government to finish trail of the killing of other journalists of South region including Humayun Kabir Balu, Harunur Rashid Khokon and Sheikh Belal Ahmed, and Sagor-Runi through a speedy tribunal.
The journalists made the call from a discussion at Khulna press club on his 16th death anniversary in Wednesday .
On the occasion, Manik saha Smrity Parishad, Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) and the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) placed among others, laid wreaths at he monument for slain journalists on the press club premises, Manik Saha, an ex president of Khulna Press Club, also worked for the English daily New age, Ekushey TV and British Broadcasting corporation (BBC).
The trail of his murder started in June 2008 against 14 people. There of them killed in “Gunfight” with law enforcers, four imprisoned and the rest absconding.
Born in Kalia Upazila of Narail district in 1956, Manik Saha begum his carries as Khulna district correspondent in the Bangla daily Sangbad in 1982. Before that, Manik Saha was involved in leftist politics.
