Plot to kill Joy: Journo Mahmudur on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court on Monday granted five days’ remand of Daily Amar Desh Acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman in a case filed for making a plot to kidnap and kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Magistrate Mohammad Golam Nabi of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka granted the remand after hearing.
Earlier, Joy apprised Bangladesh Police of the incident. Later on August 3, 2015, DB Inspector Fazlur Rahmn lodged the case with Paltan Model Police Station of the city. Veteran journalist Shafik Rehman was arrested in the same case on April 16.
Mahmudur Rahman was shown arrested in the case on April 18 and later the IO of the case, Detective Branch (DB) Senior Assistant Commissioner Hasan Arafat sought ten-day remand of him in the case to quiz him for his alleged involvement in the plot to kidnap and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who is also the  
Information and Technology Affairs Adviser of the Government. However, Mahmudur Rahman has been in jail since April 11, 2013.
The case docket says that, BNP and BNP-led alliance’s high-ups including JASAS Vice President Mohammad Ullah Mamun gathered in different areas of Bangladesh, New York and UK since September of 2011 to kidnap and kill Joy in USA.
