Elderly journalist and a former News Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Syed Mahmud died of old age complications on Friday night. He was 78.
He left behind wife, two daughters, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
His namaz-e-janaja was held on National Press Club premises after Zuhr prayers on Saturday. Later, he was buried at the graveyard in city’s Mirpur Journalists Residential Colony.
Mahmud, also a permanent member of National Press Club, started his journalism career by joining Bangladesh-Press International (BPI). He later joined Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
He also worked for different media organisations and actively connected to various sports and socio-cultural organisations including Bangladesh Scouts.
