Journalist Abdul Khaleq, former city editor and chief reporter of the daily Janakantha, died of prolonged illness at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here at 3 pm. He was 68.
Khaleq, who was also the permanent member of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC), left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He worked at different newspapers after beginning his career with the daily Azad in 1968.
JPC President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and General Secretary Qumrul Islam Chowdhury expressed profound shock at the death of Abdul Khaleq.
In a condolence message, they conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
