Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ)’s former leader and Bengali daily Dainik Sangbad’s ex-editing assistant Jaharlal
Chandra Das passed away on Sunday night at his residence in old city.He was 62.
He had been suffering from prolonged physical complications.
He is survived by wife, two sons and a host of relatives and admirers.
Das worked for Dainik Sangbad as editing assistant for long.
He led DUJ in different posts including Joint Secretary.
He also played a pioneer role in establishing Dhaka Sangabadik Paribar
Bahumukhi Samabay Samity.
Das, hailing from Matlab upazila of Chandpur district, was cremated at city’s Postogola cremation ground on Monday morning.
