Journo beaten by Rupali Bank CBA men

Staff Reporter :A journalist was severely beaten by the staff members, including Central Bargaining Association (CBA) leaders of Rupali Bank on Thursday.The incident took place at the head office of the bank in the city’s Motijheel area in the afternoon. They also confined the journalist for more than three hours. The victim has been identified as Ahmed Tofael, a Senior Reporter of the Daily Bartaman.He came under attack when he went there for collecting information to carry a story on the CBA activities of the bank. Earlier, Tofael prepared a report on CBA activities of the bank that was published on the daily on November 19. In the story, he mentioned irregularities and corruption by the CBA members, which made the bank sick. “The story made the CBA leaders angry. As he went to the bank again to make a follow up story, the employees of the bank tortured him after confining in a room from 3:00pm to 6:00pm,” Tofael said. At one stage of torturing, the senior bank officials rescued him from the room, he added.
