Journalist Atiqul Alam was laid to rest at Banani Graveyard in city on Wednesday evening. He was buried besides his daughter after Maghrib prayers at 7:30pm.
The deceased’s only son Shawkat Shamim, younger brother Colonel (retd) Nazmul Alam and daughter-in-law and also Shahjalal University of Science and Technology former vice-chancellor Dr Moslem Uddin, among others, were
present during the burial. Earlier on July 20, eminent journalist Atiqul Alam, also senior member of Jatiya Press Club, breathed his last at the house of his father-in-law in Bogra at the age of 81.
He started his career at Eastern Examiner in Chittagong. Later, he moved to Daily Unity, observed responsibilities of Dhaka bureau chief of Pakistan Times before Bangladesh war of independence.
