The miscreants threw cocktails to the office of Chittagong Journalist’s Housing Cooperative Society office at Shersha area in the port city on Wednesday night.
According to the General Secretary of the society Mohammad Hasan Ferdous, the office bearers of the society were along with him at the office during attack. Some miscreants firstly threw stones to the office and later they also threw cocktails to them at around 8 to 9 pm. None was injured and locals came out and chased the miscreants.
The matter was informed to the local thana. Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) protested the incident of cocktail attack on Chittagong Journalist’s Housing Cooperative Society office.
On the other hand, Chittagong Journalist’s Housing Cooperative Society formed a human chain at the Chittagong Press Club premises demanding the immediate arrest of the criminals who attacked on the office of the society.
At that time, a rally was also held. President of Chittagong Journalist’s Housing Cooperative Society Swapon Mallik chaired the rally. Among others, president and general secretary of CUJ Reaj Hyder and Mohammad Ali, General Secretary of Chittagong Press Club Suklal Das, Ratan Kanti Devashish, Chowdhury Farid, Mintu Chowdhury addressed the rally. The journalists demanded the immediate arrest of the criminals.
