Journalists demand immediate trial of Journo Mukul’s killers

n separate discussions marking the 19 death anniversary of RM Saiful Alam Mukul, former editor, Jessore based Bangla daily Runner, journalists, family members and well-wishers of the slain journalist demanded immediate judgment in the murder case. They also urged to government to punish the killers of the journalist through judgment so that the grieved family members can breathe in the open sky.
Saiful Alam Mukul was bombed and gunned down by some unidentified assailants near his residence at Bezpara in the town at around 10pm on August 30, 1998.
His father Golam Mazed, founding editor of the daily was also killed in torture by the then government during the era of HM Ershad.
Jessore Press Club, Journalists Union of Jessore, Mukul’s family and Mukul Bandhu Forum chalked out various programmes to mark the day.
The programmes include wearing of black badges, placing floral wreath at the grave, doa mahfil, offering prayers at the grave and discussion meetings.
Jahid Hasan Tukun, president, Jessore Press Club, Fakir Shaukat and Mizanur Rahman Tota, former presidents, Tauhidur Rahman, general secretary, Ahsan Kabir, Noor Islam, Saifur Rahman Saif, M Ayub, SM Sohel and Jewel Mredha spoke at the discussions.
Speakers demanded immediate judgment in the journalist murder case.
