UNB, Dhaka: Chairman of Press Institute of Bangladesh, Eminent journalist and Ekushey Padak recipient Habibur Rahman Milon passed away at a city hospital early morning. He was 78. Habibur Rahman, also advisory Editor of the Daily Ittefaq, breathed his last at Labaid Hospital around 2:30am. He had long been suffering form kidney, lunge and old-age complications. Family sources said the veteran journalist had been admitted to the hospital on June 2 and shifted to its ICU on Saturday night as his condition deteriorated where he died later. He is survived by wife, one son, five daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. His first namaz-e-janaza was held in front of his Eskaton residence. His body was then taken to the Jatiya Press Club where his second janaza was held around 1:30pm. From the Press Club, Habibur Rahman’s body was brought to PIB where his third janaza was held. After his fourth janaza in front of Dainik Ittefaq, his mortal remains will be kept at BIRDEM mortuary as his daughter arrives here from abroad on Monday, family sources said. He will be buried after Asr prayers on Monday at Martyred Intellectual Graveyard, Mirpur. Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Habibur Rahman Milon. Born in Brahmanbaria in 1937, Habibur Rahman started his journalism career through joining Dainik Sangbad in 1963. He worked at the Ittefaq over three decades.
