Joint forces, terrorists clash in Bandarban: 1 killed

At least one person was killed and two others were injured in a gunfight between the joint forces and terrorists of Myanmar separatist group Arakan Army at Ruma upazila in Bandarban district on Sunday noon, reports ISPR.
The fight took place around 12.00am during an operation to rescue three persons including two tourists. The deceased is a member of Village Defence Police, identified as Menson Mrow, 36.
Of the two injured, one is an Army corporal Md Abul Kashem and another one is Md Hannan, a member of Ansar Battalion.
Army’s Ruma Zone Staff Officer Lieutenant. Rafi told that two tourists Jakir Munna and Abdullah Al Jubaer of Dhaka’s Mirpur and their guide were abducted from the upazila on October 3. The abductors claiming them as members of Arakan Liberation Army demanded Tk 50 lakh as ransom.
Being informed, a team of joint forces went to the area for rescuing them. The incident took place at Seprupara of Borothalipara union when the joint force was launching operation at the border area of Bilaichhari in Rangamati and Ruma in Bandarban to recover two abducted tourists and their guide. Following the incident, additional army personnel were deployed in the area. Lieutenant Rafe of the Ruma zone of Bangladesh Army said they recalled additional troops from the Sadar zone.
