Jatiya Oikya Front (JOF) Convener Dr Kamal Hossain will announce the names of the JOF candidates in all the 300 constituencies by Wednesday.
“Now we are in discussion to finalise the candidates’ list. The candidates will be selected based on consensus of all of our alliance partners. We hope that we will reach a consensus before the last date of nomination paper submission.” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir while talking to journalists at Dr. Kamal Hossain’s chamber in Motijheel in the capital.
The BNP leader further said that they had interviewed party’s nomination seekers for four days. The alliance partners of Jatiya Oikya Front and 20-party also took interview of their candidates.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “If we could stay in the election till the last day and if the election is held in free, fair and acceptable manner, the victory of JOF is certain.” But he expressed his anxiety over the absence of level playing field. “The level playing field is hovering. We have submitted the names to the EC of partisan officials of Election Commission and police but we have not got justice,” he said.
“The EC said that police is under their control. If it is, we can say that the fictitious cases have been filed at the direction of the EC,” Fakhrul said.
Earlier, senior leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront held a meeting in the Dr. Kamal Hossain’s chamber and discussed about finalising the names of the candidates of the alliance.
Dr. Kamal Hossain, Abdul Kader Siddiqui, Mostafa Mohsin Montu and Subrata Chowdhury were also present in the meeting.
