Jatiya Oikya Front on Thursday announced a programme of wearing black badges on February 6 in protest against “vote rigging and ballot stuffing” in the December 30 national election.
BNP Secretary General and JOF spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, announced that the one-hour black badge wearing programme will start around 3:00pm in front of Jatiya Press Club.
Jatiya Oikyafront also decided that none of its eight MPs-elect, including the two from Gono Forum, would join the 11th Parliament.
The decision was taken in a JOF steering committee meeting.
“No leaders elected in the national election will participate in the Parliament,” Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain, said in the press conference there.
Replying to a question, Fakhrul told the journalists that the earlier announced February 6 citizen dialogue had been deferred.
He said the front will organise a mass hearing of the JOF candidates who contested in the 11th parliamentary polls will be held in Dhaka on February 24.
The day-long mass hearing will be held from 10:00am.
The venue of the mass hearing was not announced.
JOF leaders met at Dr Kamal Hossain’s chamber and took the decisions.
The meeting started at 3:00 pm and ended around 5:00pm. They also raised a demand for holding a fresh election under a non-party caretaker government.
In the meeting, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rab, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Founder of Gonoshasthya Kendra Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Krishak Sramik Janata League Joint Secretary Iqbal Siddique, Gono Forum Executive President Shubrata Chowdhury, Gono Forum leader Dr Reza Kibria and Jaglul Hayder Afrik were present.
