After receiving backlash in spite of good reviews at the Venice Film Festival, ace filmmaker Todd Phillips’ Joker, featuring Joaquin Phoenix getting into the skin of the iconic villainous character of The Joker, was premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Monday night. After debuting to rave reviews, the film also took home the festival’s Golden Lion highest award. Phoenix even talked about his character and his heartfelt speech left everyone at the fest emotional.
