Mohammad Juanid Hossain, Department of Public Administration (10th batch) and Din Islam, Department of Philosophy (11th batch) were elected as the President and General Secretary respectively of the new Executive Committee of Jagannath University Debating Society (JnUDS) for the academic year 2019-2020.
A total of 26 candidates was grouped in two panels were vying for 15 seats. Register Eng Md Ohiduzzaman acts as chief Commissioner in the polls and other election commissioners were Dr Mostafa Kamal, Kazi Md Nasir Uddin, Sumon Kumar Majumdar and Ziadur Rahman. The election for the tenure of 2019-20 was held on Thursday noon. The total number of voters was 84. Mohammad Junaid Hossain, student of Public Administration, has been elected president bagging 51 votes while his nearest candidate Naimul Hasan Munna of Accounting and Information System department bagged 32 votes and Din Islam, student of Philosophy department has been elected General Secretary bagging 43 votes while his nearest candidate Md Hasibul Alam of Public Administration Department bagged 40 votes.
The other office bearers are Vice-President Mulham Haydar Galib of Mathematics Dept, Joint General Secretary Munni Akter of Statistics Dept, Treasurer Nahid Hasan Robin of English Dept, Organizing Secretary Begh Shoyeb Ahmed of Law Dept, Publicity Secretary FM Nuruzzaman Nion of English Dept, Office Secretary Md Saidul Islam Sayeed of IER Dept, Information and Research Affairs Secretary Md Jubaidur Rahman of History Dept, Nuruzzaman, Morshed Hossain Asif, Sarwar Hossain as Executive Members, Rifat Ara Choity and Rafia Rahman as reserved women seats.
While approached newly elected Pesident Muhammad Juanid Hosaain said, “I was hopeful about my victory in the polls as I had been involved with the organisation since the first semester of my academic carrier and worked for it.
