The Jagannath University (JnU) authorities on Monday suspended a teacher on charge of sexually harassing a female student of his department, said a university press release.
The punitive action was taken against Dr Md Abdul Halim Pramanik, the Chairman of Drama Department of the university.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting after the allegations were
primarily proved against him. Earlier, the female student of the department lodged complaints against the teacher to the university authorities.
A committee was also formed to probe the incident and asked to submit its report within seven days.
