Students of Jagannath University (JnU) vandalised a police prison van after scuffle between police personnel and the students centering beating of a student in the city’s Tatipara area on Tuesday morning.
A section of agitated students carried out the attack on the police van, while cops personnel threw a student who tried to board in a JnU Mirpur-bound Uttaran bus by-passing a standing police at Tati Bazar around 4:00pm.
The demonstrated students protested the assault of Foysal, student of fourth year Accounting Department of the JnU. They blocked the road for half an hour and attacked the bus that caused injuries to the prison van’s driver, cops and several prisoners, report our JnU Correspondent quoting police.
“Later in the morning, the victim and his friends vandalised seven vehicles in front of their campus,” the OC added.
Badrul Hasan alias Riad, Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali) of Lalbagh Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told The New Nation on Tuesday evening, “Cops intercepted Foysal suspecting him a accused snatcher from the prison van.”
A case was under processing against some unknown students of JnU on charge of attempt to snatch accused from prison van. The case will be filed with the kotwali Police station, the AC said
The students who were involved with vandalizing of the bus will be arrested soon, the police official said.
