A student of Jagannath University (JnU) was killed and two pedestrians were injured as a gas cylinder exploded in the city’s Kamrangirchar area on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Al Amin alias Nasir, 26, an MBA student of the university and son of Montu Kha of Haimchar in Chandpur. He had been residing at his uncle’s house at Kamrangirchar at Madhya Rasulpur to pursue his study.
Officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar Police Station Sheikh Mohsin Alam said three passersby, including Nasir, sustained injuries as the cylinder
went off with a big bang at an under-construction community centre in front of ‘Rony Market’ at Rasulpur at about 4pm.
The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Nasir dead at about 5pm.
