JnU Film Festival kicks off

A three-day long film festival featuring several award winning films kicks off on Sunday at Jagannath University (JnU).
Jagannath University Film Society (JnUPS) will organise the film festival titled ‘Amader Cinema’ at the university central auditorium with a view to inspiring students with different fields of films through movie screenings.
All are set out to bring to the old Dhaka audiences a wide array of award-winning and critically acclaimed 7 films. The festival will kick off on February 9 and run its course till February 11 this year. This year festival will address issues concerning women through the everyday life and their works. The festival will feature 7 films, these are Nasiruddin Yousuf’s Alfa, Rizajul Hossain’ Hridoyer Rongdhonu, Toukir Ahmed’s Fagun Haowai on January 9,Sayed Robiyat Hossain’s Under-Construction, Antu Azad’s Ahoto Fuler Golpo and Nuhas Human’s Eti Tomari Dhaka on January 10.Tanim Rahman Angshu’s No Dorai and women related special documentary will be screened on January 11. Every day program will be started from 9:00am and to be continued till 1:30pm.Viewers will be able to watch the films after collecting passes from JnUFS authorities.
Besides the films screening, there will be some interesting events including seminar and others. A seminar named ‘How to be done an Indie Film: Director’s Statement”, to be organised which will be held at same venue on February 11 following the documentary screening where JnU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman will be presented as chief guest in chair of the university Film and Television department chairman Prof. Dr. Junaid Halim.
Jagannath University Film Festival has been organising the festival since 2019 with the different themes and slogans. The festival will be ended on February 11.
