A Dhaka court has placed Md Abdur Razzak, chairman of JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Ltd, on a five-day remand in a case filed for supplying substandard N-95 masks.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Imrul Kayesh passed the remand order on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier, ACC deputy director Nurul Huda, also the IO of the case, sought five days’ remand for Abdur Razzak.The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested Md Abdur Razzak from city’s Segun Bagicha area around 12:30pm on Tuesday in a graft case filed for supplying substandard N-95 masks to some government hospitals.
The ACC had filed the case against seven people including Abdur Razzak and Dr Md Zakir Hossain, deputy director and P&C of CMSD, Dhaka for supplying 20,000 poor quality N-95 masks to 10 hospitals.
On July 1, ACC summoned five businessmen for interrogation over the graft allegation.
On July 8, the ACC interrogated two businessmen including Razzak over alleged graft in supplying poor quality mask and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
On April 24, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare formed a committee to investigate the allegations of providing low-quality products including N-95 masks to some government hospitals.
