The National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation into the Bardhaman bomb blast case has unearthed a major Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB)’s plot to carry out attacks in Bangladesh.
NIA’s initial investigation has revealed that the
terror group has been planning the attacks to avenge the crackdown on radical groups in Bangladesh by the Sheikh Hasina government.
“Interrogation of arrested accused by the NIA continued on Tuesday in cooperation with West Bengal CID. Based on preliminary investigation three persons were summoned in Chennai for questioning by NIA,” a Indian government official privy to the investigation told bdnews24.com.
Ever since India’s premier investigation agency took charge of the Bardhaman blasts case last Saturday, the team has initiated search operations in several suspected locations in West Bengal.
“The NIA today (Tuesday) conducted searches at various places including the rented residence of Shakil Ahmed– who died in the Bardhaman blast– in Beldanga, Murshidabad (West Bengal).
