JMB military wing chief Zabed killed in grenade blast

Military wing chief of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Zabed was killed in a grenade blast in the city’s Oxygen Kuaish Road area early Tuesday.
Earlier, tipped off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) launched a drive at Khoajnagar under Karnaphuli Police Station around 6:30pm on Monday and arrested five JMB men, including its military wing chief Zabed.
During the drive, the DB team also recovered nine grenades, one pistol, 120 bullets, several knives and huge bomb-making materials from the spot. CMP additional deputy commissioner of (DB) Babul Akhter said a grenade went off when a team of DB police along with Zabed was conducting a drive, based on information from him, to recover grenades in Oxygen Kuaish Road area under Bayejid Police Station around 5:00 am, leaving him (Zabed) and three policemen seriously injured.
