The CMM Court of Dahaka yesterday sent Sakib Ahmed Chowdhury alias Jakir, an active member of the banned militant outfit neo-Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to the jail.
Magistrate Moinul Islam of the CMM Court passed the order after police produced Jakir in the court on completion of his five-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terror Act. The police pleaded to keep him behind the bars until the completion of probe in the case.
Police, on May 4, arrested Sakib from Matuail area and filed the case with Kotwali Police Station in the capital.
According to police, Sakib, a graduate from a private university of Sylhet, used to create and maintain online contacts between the leaders and members of the militant group.
