JMB man Mehedi on fresh remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Wednesday placed Imam Mehedi Hasan Abu Jibril, a top leader of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), on a five-day fresh remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Saraf-uz-zaman Ansari passed the order after the Investigation Officer of the case produced the JMB leader to the court seeking a fresh 10 days remand to interrogate him further.
Earlier, Mehedi Hasan was placed on four days remand. He was taken to the court on completion of previous remand.
He was shown arrested in the case filed with Uttara (West) Police Station in the capital.
On September 20, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the JMB leader from Banashree area in the city. He is the brigade commander of Sarwar-Tamim group of the JMB.
