A local Jubo League activist has been slaughtered in Terokhada upazila of the district.
Police recovered the body of Mirajul Islam Fakir, 26, a resident of Harikhali cluster village in the upazila, from the village on Thursday morning.
Police also arrested two people in connection with the murder. They are Nizam Uddin Kazi, office assistant of Harikhali Technical College, and Saiful Islam of the area. Locals spotted the body of Miraj lying on the bank of the Atharobeki River yesterday morning with his throat slit and informed police, said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Terokhada police station. Later, the law enforces recovered the body and sent it to hospital for post mortem. The body also bore several injury marks. Victim’s wife Rikta said Miraj went out of their house on Wednesday night after 4/5 young men, familiar to him, called him.
Miraj might have been killed over political enmity, added the OC.
