A local Jubo league activist who suffered injuries in an attack by rivals at a polling centre in Shaharasti Upazila on Saturday died at Comilla Medical College Hospital on Sunday.
The victim, Jamal Hossain, 24, son of M Shahidullah Miji, hailing from Kazirkamta village in the upazila Sadar, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Police and locals said,
Jamal sustained injuries as he came under attack by a group of people in Royosree on Saturday afternoon while he was campaigning in favour of a party’s UP member candidate Suman.
He was admitted to Shahrasti Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital where his condition deteriorated.
Later, Jamal died at the hospital in the morning.
