A Jubo League activist was hacked to death in Natore town on Tuesday night.
Ripon Sheikh, 35, was stabbed indiscriminately near the Natore Central Mosque in the Kanaikhali neighbourhood around 10:30pm Tuesday, said Inspector Shikdar Mosiur Rahman, chief of Natore Sadar Police Station.
The deceased was a Jubo League activist, said Fahim Hossain Uzzal, president
of the city’s Jubo League, a youth front of the ruling Awami League. A group of miscreants attacked Ripon with sharp weapons while he was passing through the central mosque road, said Mahfuz, a witness.
Police rushed Ripon to Natore Sadar Hospital where attended doctors declared him dead. They detained two people from the spot for grilling about the murder. A machete and a motorbike were recovered from the scene.
