A local unit Jubo League activist was found dead at Chandpur village in Sadar upazila on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Shahadat Hossain, an activist of North Joypur union unit of the youth front of the ruling party and son of Harun-ur-Rashid of Gopalpur village of the upazila.
The victim’s father said Shahadat went out of the house upon receiving a call over his mobile phone on Wednesday night and since then he had not returned.
Locals noticed his body with bullet wounds beside a mosque in his neighboring village, Chandpur, and informed police who recovered and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy in the morning.
Police said miscreants might have killed Shahadat at some time on Wednesday night and later dumped the body there.
