Miscreants cut off the tendons of the legs of a Jubo League leader and hacked a local Awami League (AL) activist at Binodpur in the city on Tuesday night.
The victims were identified as Iyamin,30, president of Jubo League ward no. 30 unit of the city, and local ruling party activist Ishar, 22, son of Gaziul.
Officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station Abdur Rauf said after blasting several crude bombs, a group of miscreants, numbering 20-25, chased off Iyamin into a nearby ally while he and Isha were having chat inside a tea stall at Binodpur Bazar. Later, the attackers hacked Iyamin on the head and severed the tendons of the legs.
They also swooped on Isha while he tried to save Iyamin and also chopped him.
Later, local people rescued them and rushed them to Rajshahi Medial College Hospital (RMCH).
