UNB, Noakhali :
An activist of a local unit of Jubo League was shot dead and another one injured by their rivals at Amishapara Bazar in Sonaimuri upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, 28, son of late Korban Ali of Dhainyapur village of the same upazila and a member of Amishapara unit of Jubo Leauge.
The injured was identified as Saiful Islam, president of Amishapara College unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League.
Witnesses said, local strongman Jakir’s men swooped on Ibrahim and shot him in the area when he was taking tea at a tea
stall around 7:45 pm, leaving Jakir dead on the spot and Saiful injured. They also vandalised 10-12 shops in the area.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Injured Saiful was admitted to the hospital.
Officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri Police Station Kazi Haniful Islam confirmed the murder.
A case was filed in this connection.
