A Juba League (JL) leader was shot and injured in his residence by the rival group in JL over establishing the supremacy in the city’s Matikata area on Friday night.
The injured youth was identified as Ibrahim Hossain, 28, Organizing Secretary of Ward No. 15 of Juba League in the city.
Victim’s friend Rony said that Ibrahim opened the door of their rented flat in Matikata area after hearing the ring of calling bell around 11:00pm on Friday. Immediately after opening
the door, a gang of people fired bullets on Ibrahim, leaving him injured.
Family members admitted him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) with bullet injury in his waist, said Sentu Chandra Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of DMCH police outpost.
The incident ensued over the establishing of the supremacy in Matikata, said Atiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Cantonment Police Station.
The victim’s brother Ismail Hossain on Saturday filed a case in this connection with the Cantonment Police Station by mentioning the name of six local JL leaders, the police official said.
Police have arrested two leaders for interrogation regarding the matter, he said.
“We are trying to arrest the accused in the case,” the OC said.
