JL leader murder accused killed in Cumilla ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber, accused of murdering a local Jubo League leader, has been killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ with Detective Branch of police.
The deceased has been identified as Khokon, 45, son of one late Abul Hossain from Fultola village.
Local sources said that Khokon was a member of the local robber gang and accused in Cumilla Zila Parishad member Khairul Alam Sadhan murder case.
Two police personnel were also injured in the gunfight, police claimed.
According to sources, when a gang of robbers were preparing to commit

robbery, a team of DB police conducted a drive in the area. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on law enforcers, who retaliated in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.
At one stage, Khokon was caught in the line of fire and suffered bullet injury. He was rushed to a hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.
Parimal Chandro Das, Sub-Inspector of DB (Cumilla) confirmed the matter to the media and said that one pipe-gun, two cartridges and some local weapons were also recovered from the spot.
