A local Jubo League leader was killed when a truck rammed into his motorbike in Mastar Bari area on the Dhaka-Mymenshing Highway in the city on Wednesday midnight.
The deceased was identified as Rakib Hossain Jewel,40, joint secretary of Sadar upazila unit Jubo League, the youth associate body of the ruling Awami League and a resident of Bhaouraid area of the city.
Quoting locals, police said the speeding truck rammed the motorcycle riding Jewel in the area at about 12:00 am when he was returning home from Nanduain area of the city by a motorcycle, leaving him dead on the spot.
Informed, police seized the truck but its driver and helper managed to escape the scene. A case was filed in this connection.
