A Jubo League leader was killed and five others injured during a clash between two fractions of ruling Awami League in Baghmara upazila of Rajshahi on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Chanchal Kumar Shujon, 42, a resident of the upazila’s Taherpur union.
He succumbed to his injuries after being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in a critical condition around 4:30pm.
The body was kept at the morgue.The clash erupted among the followers of ruling party lawmaker for Baghmara-4 constituency Engr Enamul Haque and Taherpur Municipality Mayor Abul Kalam Azad.
Additional police were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation.
Baghmara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasim Ahmed confirmed the incident saying the clash broke out at 11am over establishing supremacy by rivals groups of Awami League.
