A young man was hacked to death allegedly by some miscreants at Upashahor area of the district on Sunday.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station, AKM Ajmal Huda said some miscreants hacked Kajol, 32, son of Ashraf Ali of the area, as he arrived at the Upashahar Union Parishad office around 2pm on Sunday.
The attack took place in broad daylight and left him critically injured.
Locals rushed him to Jessore General Hospitals but doctors declared him dead.
Md Abdur Rashid, on-duty doctor of the emergency department of the
hospital said 20-25 stab marks were seen on the body of Kajol, concentrated on the chest and stomach areas.
Kajol’s uncle Ali Kador said he was involved with politics of Jubo League.
Asaduzzaman, a member of Sadar Upazila Jubo League, confirmed to UNB that Kajol was a leader of Upashahar Union Jubo League. He was killed over a dispute with his political rivals Cheema, Mansur and 3-4 others, according to Asaduzzaman.
