Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (Bangladesh Passengers Welfare Association) Secretary General Mozammel Haque Chowdhury was arrested on Thursday.
A Dhaka court placed him on one day remand after police produced him in the court with seven days remand prayer on the day.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Huq passed the order.
“Police have arrested Mozammel Haque Chowdhury from his
Sanarpar residence of Narayangonj,” Bazlar Rahman, the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case told The New Nation.
He refused to detail about the case filed against Mozammel Haque.
Besides, Mirpur Model Police Station sources said, one Dulal filed an extortion case against Mozammel on Wednesday. He was arrested around 3:00am.
Mirpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Reazul Islam said that one Dulal filed the extortion case against the Jatri Kalyan Samity Secretary General.
