JKKNIU teacher Shafiqul conferred PhD from China

Md. Shafiqul Islam, Associate Professor at the Accounting and Information Systems Department of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU), has recently conferred PhD degree from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Wuhan, China. The title of his PhD dissertation was “The Impact of Rural Finance on Rural Socio-Economic Development: A Multidimensional Perspective in Bangladesh”. He earned his PhD with an average of 85% on 29 credits.
Shafiq has had a long and distinguished academic career. Before joining JKKNIU, he was a lecturer at Patuakhali Science and Technology University. Following his graduation, he spent nine months as a lecturer at Bangladesh University. In 2009, Patuakhali University of Science and Technology presented him BBA with a gold award for faculty excellence. He completed his MBA with the Gold Medal in 2011 by getting the highest CGPA in his batch from the IBA of Rajshahi University. In both SSC and ESC, he received the first class. In class five, he was awarded a scholarship.
Shafiq is a columnist for many daily newspapers in addition to his work as a teacher. He has authored or co-authored 18 papers in national or international publications. Bangladeshi newspapers have published more than 200 of his pieces. For two years, Mr. Shafiq also served as the World Bank’s HEQEP sub-project manager.
At Kabi Nazrul University, Shafiq served as president and secretary of the teachers’ association. he said, “A PhD in Rural Finance from a prestigious Chinese university is an incredible honor. I am overwhelmed with appreciation and gratitude.”
