Savar Teacher Murder: Jitu beat teacher to show heroism: RAB

Ashraful Islam Jitu, a schoolboy in Savar, walloped his teacher Utpal Kumar Sarkar to murder with a cricket stump in order to show heroism to his girlfriend in the School, RAB said.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of the force’s law and media wing, said this in a press briefing at its media center on Thursday.
Jitu, the main accused in the Utpal murder case, was arrested in a joint drive of two teams of the elite force, from Nagarhaola village of Sreepur in Gazipur on Wednesday night.
Jitu used to read in Class-X of that educational institution. He was admitted first to a school, then to a madrasa and lastly to the school. He was known to everyone in the school as a naughty student. There were many allegations against him for violating discipline and destroying the school environment at different times. He used to tease and annoy the students. He used to smoke in front of everyone on the school premises. He formed a juvenile gang in the area under his leadership, he said.
A few days before the incident, the teacher forbade Jitu to refrain from roaming closely with a girl on the campus. After that, he became angry with his teacher and planned to attack him to show his heroism to the girl.
On June 25, he attacked lecturer of the Humanities Department Utpal Kumar Sarker with a cricket stump on the college campus. The teacher was admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital where he died on June 27.
Later, the deceased’s elder brother Asim Kumar Sarker filed a murder case with Ashulia Thana.
According to his certificate, he is 19 years old, Khandaker Al Moin said.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, a Dhaka court placed Jitu on a five-day remand in the case filed on charge of beating teacher Utpal Kumar Sarkar to death in Savar of Ashulia.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Rajib Hasan issued the order after the investigating officer of the case Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ashulia Police Station Emdadul Haque had produced Jitu before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Additional Public Prosecutor of the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court Anwarul Kabir Babul confirmed the matter.
